We use data from two US national surveys. Income and marital status data come from the 2020 Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) of the Current Population Survey (CPS). Height and body mass index data come from the 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
Exclude Married & Mothers
The “Exclude Married” option filters out the “Married, spouse present” and “Married, spouse absent” categories from the survey data while including other marital statuses like Separated, Divorced, Widowed, Never married/single, and Widowed or Divorced.
This option is based on the Current Population Survey (CPS) Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) data, adjusted per age.
2019 US Census Bureau Marital Status Data Table
Similarly, the “Exclude Mothers” option is based on data on childless women per age bracket from the American Community Survey (ACS) by the US Census Bureau, adjusted per age. This option filters out women with children from the sample data.
Race
Our calculator includes selected races in the search, such as Non-Hispanic White, Pure Black, Pure Asian, and All Races. We’ve used the 2020 ASEC survey data and US Census Bureau Race/Ethnicity Data to ensure a user-friendly experience.
The ASEC survey includes 28 different race options, including combinations of two or more races, but we’ve simplified it to four options for ease of use.

Exclude Obese
Exclude obese men with a BMI of 30 or higher and women with BMI of 30 or greater, adjusted per race, from the calculation. The BMI is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. The data is sourced from the NCHS, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Income
Income statistics come from the 2020 Current Population Survey conducted by the ASEC.
DelusionCalculator.pro Limitation
DelusionCalculator.pro merges two statistical samples (ASEC and NHANES) to generate a reliable result. The calculator runs two different searches for income and body measures and then combines the two results into one single percentage value.
However, the final percentage may not be entirely accurate, as it doesn’t take into account correlations between income and height or weight. Keep this in mind while interpreting the final number.
